Say NO to Acid Etching

Here’s what you should know about Acid etching (But No One is telling you)…

  • The product commonly used in Paint Free Anti Slip applications is

  • Hydroflouric Acid (HF) or a derivative of the chemical.

  • It is one of the most dangerous acids known, due to it’s ability to chemically burn skin on contact.

  • It’s primary use is to etch glass, clean metal and other industrial uses.

  • When HF is applied to the tub surface, the acid eats away at the shiny porcelain or enamel finish.

  • You can’t see the resulting microscopic pinholes, but those holes are what remains in an attempt to create a less slippery surface.

THE EFFECTIVENESS IS SHORT LIVED & MINIMAL AT BEST.
TO TOP IT OFF, YOU JUST PAID TO HAVE YOUR TUB RUINED.

  • Each day that the tub is cleaned, those microscopic holes become filled with cleanser residue, soap, shampoo & body oils because the protective coating has been removed by the acid.\

  • Over time, the bottom begins to appear dirty because more stuff is being ground into those holes.

  • Room attendants, to no fault of their own, will scrub harder or ask for stronger chemicals.

  • If the microscopic holes are being filled, what kind of protection remains for your guests.

The answer is none.

Acid etching is the worst thing to have EVER happened to tubs in hotels. PERIOD!!!

Have you ever questioned why some tub refinishing companies force you to purchase an abrasive cleanser from them to maintain the surface and the warranty?
They think they know that the abrasive cleanser will help remove any build up, it doesn’t. Not only has the Acid ruined your finish, so is the use of the abrasive cleanser.

Think about this…
If you live in an area of the country that’s gets snow and ice in the winter, what product do DOT crews spread on roads to make them less slippery. SAND!!
Why, because it promotes better traction for your car tires.
